“Whatever Andrew paints, his sense of composition and use of colour embodies the spirit of movement, speed and the excitement that we all associate with motorsport and our favourite cars.”
Andrew has been painting and drawing for as long as he can remember - even at senior school he used to skip the P.E. and Sports lessons to go to the art room instead - “not sure how I got away with that!!” Becoming obsessed with the art and design of the sci-fi world of the Star Wars and Alien movies inspired a move to 3D model making, taking everyday junk and cannibalising old Airfix kits to create his own unique spaceships. This eye for design and ‘future transportation’ led to a career in automotive design starting with 4 years on the Automotive and Transport Design course at Coventry Polytechnic back in 1984, followed by a career at a number of car companies and design consultancies around the world, including GM Holden in Australia, Lotus Cars in Norfolk, Aston martin and most recently Jaguar Land Rover in Gaydon, UK and many others in between.
This cemented a life long love of the automobile and during a brief gap between jobs in 2009, he saw the opportunity to turn the occasional sketch of a classic car for friends into a potential business. He has been running this ‘side hustle’ ever since, constantly creating new images and exhibiting at car shows across the country including Goodwood FOS and Revival, Salon Prive, Ferrari Owners Club Day, Beaulieu and with Aston Martin Racing at Le Mans to name but a few. In June 2014 he worked as 'artist in residence' with Aston Martin Racing spending five days with the team at Le Mans in June 2014. This work culminated in an exhibition at West-One, Aston Martin’s premier showroom on Park Lane, London and then within the VIP Hospitality suite at Le Mans 2015. He also has a number of original paintings on permanent display in the RAC Club Pall Mall and Woodcote park.
Andrew creates his artwork either traditionally on canvas using acrylic paint as well as on screen utilising the latest digital techniques. This allows him to produce both original artworks on canvas and unique images as prints on aluminium and acrylic panel, to give a more modern and contemporary approach. He is available to support various events with 'live painting' demonstrations and to work on both corporate and private commission.
In October 2025, he took the opportunity to retire early for JLR and fulfil his dream of taking the art business on to a more permanent footing. To this end he is busy creating a new set of originals and Limited Edition prints and looking forward to catching up with old friends and meeting new customers in the 2026 season.
